Today we're launching VOLT — a music distribution platform built by VEAEA for the Victorian electronic music community. It's live now at volt.veaea.org.
The pitch is simple. If you're an electronic artist in Victoria, you can upload your music, set your own price, and sell directly to the people who want to hear it. No distributors. No gatekeepers. No label contract required.
How it works
Artists register, get approved, and upload their releases. Fans browse, preview, and buy. Downloads are DRM-free in every format — WAV, FLAC, and MP3 are all included as standard. No upcharges for lossless.
VEAEA takes a 5% platform fee on each sale. That's it. On a $3.00 track, the artist takes home $2.55. For comparison, that same track on Beatport nets the artist $1.53 after the storefront and distributor take their cuts. On Bandcamp, $2.15.
Every cent of VEAEA's 5% goes back into the Victorian electronic arts community — artist commissions, programs, harm reduction, infrastructure. None of it goes to shareholders. We're a registered charity.
Victorian Music Fridays
Every Friday, VEAEA waives its cut entirely. 100% of sales go directly to the artist. We call it VMF — Victorian Music Fridays. It's a weekly reminder of what this platform is actually for.
The wallet
Fans can top up a VOLT wallet and buy without entering card details every time. Wallet purchases have no additional processing fees. Top-up tiers come with bonus credit — $20 gets you $21, $50 gets you $53, $100 gets you $108.
For artists
Registration is free. Uploading is free. Listing is free. You pay nothing until you sell something.
The registration process takes a few minutes — create an account, fill in your artist profile with genres and links, add your payout details. We review applications within 24 hours and you're live.
Payouts happen monthly by bank transfer. $20 minimum threshold. You can track your sales from the artist dashboard.
Why we built it
VEAEA exists to build infrastructure for the electronic arts in Victoria. The music economy is part of that infrastructure. Artists in this community have been underpaid and under-resourced for decades. The platforms that exist take too large a cut, require middlemen, or have been acquired by companies with different priorities.
We wanted something that works the way this community actually works — direct, local, fair. VOLT is that.
If you're an artist, register and start selling. If you're a fan, browse what's on offer. If you want to support the platform itself, donate to VEAEA.
Pay your artists. Support your scene.
