About VEAEA
Victorian Endowment for the Advancement of the Electronic Arts Inc. exists to cultivate a sustainable, equitable, and thriving electronic arts scene in Victoria.
VEAEA is Victoria's endowment for electronic arts. We are a committee-governed, volunteer-run charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Who we are
VEAEA was founded by practitioners who saw a persistent gap in the Victorian arts ecosystem: electronic arts — music, sound art, generative and software-based work, live audiovisual performance — were underserved by existing infrastructure and funding mechanisms.
We exist to close that gap. Our membership is made up of artists, technologists, educators, and community organisers who believe in the social and cultural value of electronic arts.
Our purpose
Our charitable purpose is the advancement of the arts. In practice that means direct financial support for artists, educational programming, community infrastructure, and advocacy for fair pay and conditions in the sector.
- Commission and present new electronic artworks
- Fund and deliver skills-development workshops
- Operate harm reduction resources for the electronic music community
- Provide a membership structure for practitioners seeking community and resources
How we work
VEAEA is governed by an elected committee of members. All committee positions are voluntary. Major decisions — including financial commitments above a set threshold and changes to the constitution — require a vote of the full membership at a general meeting.
We are committed to transparency. Our finances are recorded and reported under Australian charity law, including annual reporting to the ACNC. Donors receive DGR-compliant tax receipts for all gifts of $2 or more.
Governance & accountability
As a registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) endorsement, VEAEA is subject to the governance standards set by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. We publish annual information statements through the ACNC charity register.
Our financial year runs July–June. All donation receipts carry an ATO-compliant receipt number in the format VEAEA‑FY‑NNNN.
Get involved
The best way to support VEAEA's work is to become a member, volunteer your skills, or make a donation. Members gain voting rights at general meetings, access to programs and resources, and a community of practice.
